Ubisoft has posted some early concept art of the upcoming Splinter Cell Remake online, marking the first time we have seen Sam Fisher and a number of environments from the thoroughly updated re-release. One shows the stealth master hiding in the rafters of a rooftop, another shows soldiers searching a warehouse in the dead of night, one more perches Fisher on the balcony of a house, and a fourth is what looks like a USA embassy. A final shot has the assassin crouched with his knife at the ready.
Here are all five pieces of concept art:
To mark the series' 20th anniversary — the very first game was released on the Original Xbox on 17th November 2002 in North America — Ubisoft has posted a video celebrating the milestone. Four team members working on the Splinter Cell Remake sit down to discuss the project, revealing "the core of the story [and] the core of the experience will remain as it was in the original game". However, improvements will be made for narrative beats that "may not have aged particularly well".
"We've also been exploring new and innovative tech and ideas as well as features and elements from the other Splinter Cell titles," it's said. It's confirmed the team is still "very early in production", with the prototyping phase underway. "We don't want to rush anything. We want to make sure we absolutely nail the game and we actually do everything in the right way and produce an absolutely stellar quality experience." The Splinter Cell Remake team will be going dark for some time now, so don't expect to see anything new for a while.

I feel this is one game which could really use ray tracing to enhance gameplay through accurate shadows to track enemies off screen or the use of reflections for similar purposes or built into gadgets
@carlos82 i agree RT would be really great for this. I am excited for this game, probably end up getting it for PC or Xbox Series X but for sure want to play it. Can’t imagine it’s close to releasing any time soon tho. Which is a bummer. So many great titles that need way more time. Just happy to have God of War this year.
I want to believe.
I just hope UBI really doesn't screw this one up. Unfortunately a shadow of a company they used to be.
@RogerRoger You know more than me! I loved the original game but don't remember much beyond the first mission.
There was more mystery surrounding special operations units back in the day, not so much nowadays.
@RogerRoger Yeah you're definitely right there
Epic i hope they remake the other 2 original splinter cell games as well the first 3 where the best.
The best feeling when your creeping in the dark in pure stealth mode when the quite music kicks in then you complete a mission and the van is waiting for you.
I'm getting the itch to replay the originals. They'll be at the top of my list whenever I end up getting a Series S.
@RogerRoger Instantly clocked those two as well. Been a long time since I played the original, but those parts were clearly very memorable to me.
I'm interested to see what parts stay the same and what changes. There's that whole updated for a modern audience quote, best case scenario is just that it's more or less the same story but now the events take place in 2024 and not 2004.
Please have spies vs mercs multiplayer!
Whilst a full on remake will hopefully not turn into another Ubi live service grindfest,it's still saddens me another opportunity for an updated, working ps2 classics emulation for Deluxe/Premium to release the OG series or port the HD Trilogy (rather than be locked into PS Now type streaming),over goes begging!
Though more a Sony issue than just Ubisoft, it does highlight again the lack of effort in updating/ replacing the old ps2 classics emulation with an improved, working one on ps4/5.
There's money to be made in classics Mr Ryan,it just helps if you have a management that doesn't do it on the cheap & then claims it isn't popular to justify the expense!
I'm happy to hear they're gonna try to make this as faithful as possible!
Why can't they put them all on the classic games section?
They've got all the Syphon filter ones on there and they're much older.
There's no excuse imo
